Laveen Village is located in Maricopa county, Phoenix, Arizona. This village has a population of 47,958 and is 30.5 square miles big. In the 1990’s, the village was brimming with cotton fields and dairies which stabilized the economy. Parts of Laveen Village is considered a rural community and is attributed to their steadfast efforts in preserving the traditions of the past and of the fact that they’re a farming community. 

 

Today, they are embracing progress and modernization as many commercial shops emerged as well as places of recreation. The Elementary School Districts in Laveen are Fowler, Laveen, Murphy, Riverside, and Roosevelt while Secondary School Districts comprise Phoenix and Tolleson. Employment in Laveen consists of 17,128 white collar employees and 4,832 blue collar employees. There are 14,025 housing units in this village and 9,405 were built between the year 2000 and 2009 and over 2,014 in 2010 or in the later years. 

 

Laveen Village is home to many significant structures, most of them being designated as a place of historical importance such as the Del Monte Market, the oldest continuously operating market in Arizona, the Laveen Village Welcoming Water Tower, and the Laveen School Auditorium. In the 1900s, Walter Laveen built the Laveen Store, a first in the area. Points of interests in Laveen include the South Mountain Park Preserve, where over 16,000 acres of untouched desert will surely impress. 

 

Other recreational activities you can do here are hiking, biking, horseback riding, and there are also picnic spots to get closer to nature. Aside from that, the Baseline / Dobbins Point exhibits trails for multi-use and one of the best views the city could offer. A distinguished World War II Alamo Scout, Joshua Sunn is known to have been born and raised in this village.
