Finding Pool Leaks Sooner Rather Than Later

Pool leaks cause homeowners quite the headache. When a leak is formed, it’s only a matter of time before more issues start to arise. Although they’re a hassle to deal with, the quicker it gets resolved, the less stress you’ll have to deal with later on.  Make sure that you know the major signs that indicate a leak so that you can take action ASAP. The cost of leak detection and repair tends to rise the longer you wait, so take action as soon as you suspect one. Facing the minor issues head-on is worth it in order to avoid the major issues that would otherwise occur.

The Cost of Leak Detection

Pricing for finding pool leaks isn’t a once size fits all deal. When we quote our clients a price, it is dependent on various factors regarding their pool. Some questions we may ask are:

  • Is there a spa attached to the pool?
  • Are there any water features?
  • Are there pop-ups?
  • etc.

Considering the different factors, leak detection usually costs around a couple to a few hundred dollars for the average pool. The more complex your pool and its systems are, the more leak detection will cost. Regardless, the investment you put in to find leaks in your pool is well worth it.

If you are looking around for a good leak detection company, we definitely don’t recommend going for the cheapest, first available company most of the time. Finding pool leaks is a very specialized skill and it takes years to master. It isn’t something that any pool professional can take on successfully. Make sure you find a reputable company that is licensed, bonded, insured, with experienced techs. Maybe see if they have some testimonials or reviews you can check out to see what previous clients have to say. You want to make sure you get the issue fixed the first time so you aren’t having to fork out more money for a second company to come in and re-do it all.

The Process

The three main steps of the process are the leak detection, repairing the leaks, and restoring your pool to appear as if nothing happened.

Pool Leak Detection

First and foremost, our team determines if your pool has a leak by gathering information from the client. Based off of the issues they describe, we can usually tell if they in fact have a leak. In some cases, we will conduct a sticker test first which tells us how much water your pool is losing in a day. If your pool is losing over 1/4-1/2 an inch a day, you most likely have a leak. After we are certain the pool has a leak, we’ll gather additional information to determine the cost of leak detection. On the day of your appointment, the assigned leak detection professional conducts a variety of tests to PinPoint the exact location of the leak. Once a leak is found, we don’t just stop testing and call it a day. We make sure we find any and all leaks present by following through with every single test.

Repairing Pool Leaks

Now that the leak(s) is found, one of our managers will call you with a report of everything done and what the tech found. If you are sticking with us for the repairs, he will also give you an estimate for what needs to be done. Unlike other companies, we are staffed in-house to do repairs following leak detection. This speeds up the process for our clients and makes the whole experience less stressful for them overall. Our overall goal is to help our clients enjoy their pool again and this allows us to do so.

Restoring Your Pool

Finding & repairing pool leaks will sometimes require our team to take parts of your yard apart. For example, if your pool has an underground leak, they will probably have to dig up parts of your pool decking to access it for repairs. That being said, we will always be sure to restore it so it looks as good as new. We stand by our work and guarantee that by the time we leave, no one will ever know there was a leak in the first place.
